I’m excited to share that I have completed a new book that is an aid to helping us enjoy the later stages of our lives. Composing Your Own Narrative: Befriending Your Hidden Wholeness should be available on Amazon by mid-June, 2023. I am currently using this material in courses I’m teaching. I have enjoyed studying the aging process since my first year in college. I am heartened by the many positive responses I’m getting from participants in my classes. Here is a sample of their feedback on how the course has been helpful to them:
“Course was excellent…so well thought out and organized. It has provided me with such a deeper understanding of my life experiences and a greater acceptance of them.”
“With a better understanding of my life experience, I have developed more empathy and compassion for others. I’ve also been able to let go of anger.”
“I have a much greater appreciation and gratitude for the gifts given in my early life.”
“The work we did on understanding more about the contexts in which our parents were raised has allowed me to become more compassionate about their experience and their roles as my parents.”
“Our work to re-view and remember parts of our lives has gently flipped open the door to floods of memories, while the weekly structure and supportive environment of our classes shaped my understanding and direction in processing all of the insights.”
“The work we did has really helped me appreciate the major themes in my life, and the insights I’ve gained along these lines has provided me with greater clarity about how I now want to be spending my time.”
The book serves as a resource for those who want to engage in this work on their own. My experience is that that there are distinct benefits from doing this work within a small group of trusted others.
